The Museo de la Seda de Valencia exhibits in the Real Fábrica de Tapices

 

The Real Fábrica de Tapices (RFT) and the Museo de la Seda de Valencia opened yesterday Monday at the Real Fábrica(Calle Fuenterrabía 2) the exhibition The Silk of Valencia visits the Real Fábrica de Tapices.

 

The exhibition allows you to enjoy some magnificent pieces of clothing made in silk and worked with different techniques. One of them is the espolín, the excellence of the sedería valenciana. In addition, the exhibition will house the information panels of the Valencian participation in the Silk Road. History, landscape and heritage, which aims to reflect the importance of mulberry growing in rural Valencia between the 15th and 20th centuries, as well as the extraordinary development of silk fabric production in the city of Valencia, culminating in the period of splendor that occurred in the 18th century.

 

This exhibition is the result of an agreement signed by the College of Silk Art Foundation and the Royal Tapestry Factory on 2 February 2024. In pursuance of one of the objectives of the collaboration agreement, an exhibition entitled Real Fábrica de Tapices: 300 years of history. Five Valencian artists in the RFT  was held at the Museo del Colegio del Arte Mayor de la Seda. With the same purpose, the College of the Major Art of the Silk sees the RFT with an exhibition that puts in value the Valencian sedería.
