The Fundación Excelentia presents Verdi’s monumental ‘Requiem’

The Symphony Hall of the Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid will be the stage where the Fundación Excelentia will present on March 25 at 7:30 pm the monumental and majestic Requiem by Giuseppe Verdi.

After the success of Aida, Verdi retired for a long period from operatic composition, at which point he devoted himself largely to sacred music. Alternating between sublime lyricism and dramatic power, Giuseppe Verdi’s Requiem offers the emotion and drama of a great opera; indeed, he was accused of having written too operatic music for the religious theme. The Apocalypse is announced with its seven trumpets, and percussion (timbales and drums) adds effect, drama, to this Requiem composed by an Italian who declared himself “a little atheist”. To live Verdi’s Requiem is to make a journey that feels as much as it hears. In his Messa da Requiem, for orchestra, choir and soloists, Verdi produced an ensemble of a musical power difficult to surpass. With the profound and authentic expression that characterized him, he offers in this work an unquestionable certainty to humanity.

The Sociedad Coral Excelentia de Madrid and the Orquesta Clásica Santa Cecilia will be responsible for performing this famous piece of classical music under the baton of director Kynan Johns, together with soprano Tatiana Trenogina, tenor Eduardo Sandoval, the mezzo Martina Mikelic and the bass Jihoon Kim. Tickets can be purchased at this link or by calling 9 4574061 / 91 4583089 or sending an email to reservas@fundacionexcelentia.org.
