Conference on ‘contemporary female musical creation’

Next Wednesday, May 21 at 18.30, will take place in the Sociedad General de Autores y Editores (SGAE) (calle Fernando VI, 4) a conference on contemporary female musical creation. Free admission until capacity is full.

Three European composers from Malta, Hungary and Spain will share their artistic trajectories by entering the repertoire of contemporary music through the voices of three musical universes. The renowned composers Timea Dragony (Hungary), Mariella Cassar Cordina (Malta) and Marian Márquez (Spain) will share their artistic trajectories and the particularities of their work.

Each of the composers will present their work, created especially for the European project Trans Europe Express. The day after the conference, on Thursday 22 May, the Ensemble Des Équilibres will partner with the Zahir Ensemble to offer a concert at the Teatro del Instituto Francés in Madrid.

This year, the Des Équilibres group won the Creative Europe call with a project called Trans Europe Express. With eleven partners in Spain, Hungary, Malta and France, the project will offer original works commissioned by eight composers, concerts, master classes, conferences and many other events scheduled for 2025 and 2026 (1 November 2024 – 30 April 2026).

The Trans Europe Express project, promoted by the Ensemble Des Équilibres, aims to value women’s contribution to contemporary music composition and promote gender equality in the European musical landscape. This project offers young composers a unique opportunity to develop their skills, create original works and become known on the international scene.
