Sergio Ramírez presents his new novel, “La maldición de Ramfis”, at the Cervantes Institute

The Cervantes Institute will host the presentation of Sergio Ramírez’s latest novel, “La maldición de Ramfis” (“The Curse of Ramfis”), published by Alfaguara and winner of the Cervantes Prize, on July 1st.

The event, in which the author himself will speak with journalist and writer Berna González Harbour, will take place at the Cervantes Institute headquarters (4 Barquillo Street, Madrid) on July 1st at 7:00 p.m.

“His work reflects the vibrancy of everyday life, transforming reality into a work of art of exceptional literary merit,” declared the Cervantes Prize Jury.

Inspector Morales, protagonist of Sergio Ramírez’s masterful crime series, returns.

Exiled in Costa Rica, Inspector Dolores Morales survives with Doña Sofía far from Managua, until a case challenges them once again. Aboard the Sea Cloud, a luxury sailboat shrouded in a murky history, a businessman whom they both know all too well is found dead. The murder investigation quickly opens a dangerous path: a web of broken loyalties, economic interests, and ties that surface from the past and continue to operate beyond any borders.

After “El cielo llora por mí” (“The Sky Cries for Me”), “Ya nadie llora por mí” (“No One Cries for Me Anymore”) y “Tongolele no sabía bailar” (“Tongolele Didn’t Know How to Dance”), Sergio Ramírez expands one of the most unique crime series in Spanish literature. “La maldición de Ramfis” weaves a plot where crime coexists with exile, corruption, violence, and impunity. Through clues, humor, and unresolved issues, he constructs a tense fiction that confirms the literary power of an author capable of imbuing the crime novel with a rare human, historical, and political depth.
