Barcelona will host the Matsuri Barcelona Festival 2026 on May 16th and 17th. This non-profit event, organized by the Japanese community since 2013, has become a meeting place where visitors can discover and experience the spirit of Japanese culture through music, art, performances, gastronomy, and the participation of artists who travel from Japan to share their culture with Barcelona.
Matsuri Barcelona is an annual Japanese culture festival held in Barcelona. Inspired by traditional Japanese festivals, it offers a unique opportunity to immerse oneself in Japanese culture in a festive and family-friendly atmosphere.
Highlights this year:
- Live performances of traditional Japanese music and dance by guest artists traveling directly from Japan.
- Taiko (Japanese drum) and martial arts demonstrations by local groups.
- Hands-on workshops in calligraphy, origami, and martial arts. ● Typical Japanese festival cuisine: takoyaki, yakisoba, kakigori, and more.
- Market of Japanese products: matcha, ceramics, and traditional crafts.
- Children’s area with fun activities throughout the day.
