Betty Friedan and ‘The Mystique of Femininity’, at Centro Sefarad-Israel

The philologist and researcher Josune Muñoz will give an online conference entitled The Mystique of Femininity tomorrow Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Centro Sefarad-Israel, as part of the centenary of Betty Friedan’s birth.

Of Jewish origin, the American feminist leader Betty Friedan published in 1963 the book The Mystique of Femininity, a work considered key in the history of feminism and which has sold millions of copies worldwide. Friedan was also co-founder and president in 1966 of the National Organization for Women (NOW), a pioneer in the women’s movement, which in the 21st century remains one of the most important feminist organisations in the United States. The conference can be followed on Centro Sefarad-Israel’s YouTube channel.
