Foreign Ministry has not yet appealed reopening of Catalan ’embassies’

The Diplomat. 13/09/2018

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not yet presented the appeal announced on August 23 against the reopening of the so-called ’embassies’ of the Generalitat of Catalonia abroad, for not having complied with the formal conditions required of the autonomous communities to this, reports Europa Press, citing department sources. According to the Law of Action and the Foreign Service of the State, communities must inform the Government of the creation of these delegations before doing so, something that the Generalitat has not done.

The sources cited indicated that throughout this month of September a contentious-administrative appeal will be filed against the decree of the Generalitat on June 26, which reinstated the Catalan delegations in the United Kingdom and Ireland, Germany, United States of America. America, Italy, Switzerland and France.
