The teatro Fernán Gómez. Centro Cultural de la Villa, a space that is part of the Culture, Tourism and Sport Area of the Madrid City Council, hosts, from 10 October to 15 December, the double exhibition The Stars’ Share/Prints of Life, by the Swiss photographer Gérard-Philippe Mabillard, carried out with the collaboration of the Embassies of Switzerland and Colombia.
The exhibition, which bears the same name as the book published by the author in 2023, contains nearly 60 black and white photographs of personalities from the world of cinema, music, photography, art, design, sport, wine and gastronomy. “Each photograph is the story of an encounter, at the confluence of people and arts, countries and times, inspirations and aspirations,” says Mabillard, who uses toast as a way to convey emotions.
Penélope Cruz, Javier Bardem, Jorge Perugorría, Benicio del Toro, Clint Eastwood, Antonio de la Torre, Daniel Brühl, Almudena Amor, Alba Flores, Fatoumata Diawara, Christopher Walken, Willem Dafoe, Beth Ditto, Peter Lindbergh… are some of the faces of the show, internationally known characters portrayed without artifice or production.
Alongside this series, the photographer also shows a selection of his latest images under the title Prints of Life, a collection in which Gérard-Philippe’s gaze meets with nuances, lights and expressions that draw his attention and activate the shutter.
Mabillard is a Swiss photographer whose career has been closely linked to fashion, cinema and wine lovers. He is also a very committed and sensitive person, who has decided to exhibit his works for humanitarian purposes: a part of the proceeds from the sale and all copyright are donated to the Fondation Moi Pour Toit, a private Swiss NGO, non-profit, which supports the children of low resources in Pereira (Colombia). It does this through a programme of reception, education and comprehensive training for abandoned children, abused, abused or in extreme danger within their own family environment.
