From April 25th to July 31st, the exhibition hall at Casa Árabe in Córdoba (9 Samuel de los Santos Gener Street) is hosting the “Averroes Space” exhibition, which offers an informative overview of the life, work, and intellectual legacy of the Andalusian philosopher Ibn Rushd (Averroes) on the 900th anniversary of his birth.
The exhibition is open Monday to Friday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM and from 4:30 PM to 8:00 PM. Closed weekends and holidays. Free admission until capacity is reached. Available in Spanish, English, and Arabic.
The exhibition “Averroes Space” is part of the commemorative program “Averroes Universe. 9th Centenary (1126–2026),” an institutional initiative that pays tribute to Averroes (Ibn Rushd) and the enduring relevance of his thought in the contemporary world. Located at the Casa Árabe headquarters in Córdoba, this exhibition, coordinated by Juan Pedro Monferrer, Professor at the University of Córdoba, offers an informative journey through the life, work, and intellectual legacy of the Cordoban philosopher.

– His education in religious studies, Islamic law, philosophy, and medicine, as well as the influence of the Andalusian tradition and Aristotelianism.
– The Importance of His Thought
– His contribution to the transmission of Aristotle’s thought and his defense of reason as a legitimate path to knowledge, in dialogue with faith.

– An exploration of his intellectual output in fields such as philosophy, medicine, law, and astronomy, highlighting its interdisciplinary nature.
The “Averroes Universe” program aims to reclaim the figure of Averroes as a symbol of dialogue between cultures, disseminate the intellectual legacy of al-Andalus, foster contemporary reflection on the relationship between reason, science, and religion, and promote the cultural heritage of Córdoba internationally.
