From June 22 to 28, the 9th edition of “Fare Cinema,” the thematic showcase created to promote Italian cinema and the Italian film industry, will be held worldwide. “Fare Cinema” is organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (Italy) in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, ANICA, the ICE Agency, Istituto Luce-Cinecittà, the Italian Film Commissions, and the Italian Film Academy – David di Donatello Awards.
For the 2026 edition, the Italian Cultural Institute in Madrid (Calle Mayor, 86, Madrid) will present the Spanish premiere of Damiano Michieletto’s film “Primavera” on June 24. The premiere will take place at 7:30 p.m. Free admission until capacity is reached. Reservations are required by emailing [email protected], indicating the name, surname, and telephone number of all persons for whom reservations are being requested, and using “Primavera” in the subject line.
Synopsis
Early 18th century. The Ospedale della Pietà is the largest orphanage in Venice, but also an institution that trains the most talented orphans in music. Its orchestra is one of the most renowned in the world. Cecilia is twenty years old, has always lived at the Pietà, and is an extraordinary violinist. Art has opened her mind, but not the doors of the orphanage: she can only perform there, behind bars, for wealthy patrons. Everything changes when a spring breeze suddenly shakes her life with the arrival of the new violin teacher. His name is Antonio Vivaldi.
Inspired by Tiziano Scarpa’s novel “Stabat Mater,” the film was written by Ludovica Rampoldi and directed by Damiano Michieletto, and stars Tecla Insolia as Cecilia and Michele Riondino as Vivaldi.
In 2026, it won four David di Donatello Awards: Best Composer (Fabio Massimo Capogrosso), Best Costume Design (Maria Rita Barbera and Gaya Calderone), Best Hairstyling (Marta Iacoponi), and Best Sound (Gianluca Scarlata, Davide Favargiotti, Daniele Quadroli, and Nadia Paone). Produced by Warner Bros. Entertainment Italia and Indigo Film, it is an Italian-French co-production with Moana Films; in Spain, it is distributed by A Contracorriente Films.
