The Consulate General of India in Barcelona, in collaboration with Casa Asia, is celebrating Yoga Day this weekend in Lloret de Mar and Barcelona, as part of the Spain-India Dual Year 2026.
Since the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) approved June 21 as the International Day of Yoga in 2014, following an initiative proposed by India and supported by more than 170 countries, it has been celebrated simultaneously around the world.
In its resolution, the UNGA recognized that “Yoga offers a holistic approach to health and well-being and a greater dissemination of information about the health benefits of its practice for the global population. Yoga also brings harmony to all aspects of life and is renowned for disease prevention, health promotion, and the management of many lifestyle-related disorders.” This year’s theme is: “Yoga for well-being, wisdom, and world peace.”
