Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares and Ibero-American Secretary General Andrés Allamand signed an agreement this Thursday to coordinate the preparation, organization, and development of the upcoming Ibero-American Summit, to be held in Madrid on November 4 and 5, as well as the other sectoral ministerial meetings, forums, and preliminary gatherings.
“With the signing of this agreement, negotiated by the Pro Tempore Secretariat and the Ibero-American General Secretariat, preparations are moving forward for this major multilateral event, whose motto is ‘Ibero-America. Together we build our Community. Together we project it into the future and into the world,’” the Ministry stated in a press release.
The agreement will facilitate coordination and logistical and technical support from the Ibero-American General Secretariat to Spain as Pro Tempore Secretariat, ensuring greater coordination between the two signatories on all organizational, technical, and logistical matters.
The Pro Tempore Secretariat has been holding numerous preparatory meetings to ensure that the Ibero-American Summit produces tangible declarations and agreements with a direct and positive impact on the citizens of the countries that make up the Ibero-American community. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, these meetings have identified strategic work priorities, the results of which will be included in both the Final Declaration and the Special Declarations that will form part of the community’s record.
