The Council of Ministers authorized on Tuesday, November 25, a voluntary contribution from Spain to the United Nations Sustainable Development Systems Evaluation Office (SWEO) for the 2025 fiscal year, amounting to €90,000.

The United Nations Sustainable Development Systems Evaluation Office (SWEO) is responsible for providing independent evaluations to strengthen collective learning and accountability, as well as conducting system-level evaluations that provide evidence on the contribution of the UN development system to achieving the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Spanish Cooperation Master Plan 2024-2027 expressly recognizes the importance of evaluation as a tool for learning, transparency, and improving the quality of cooperation. Among its guidelines, the new Spanish Cooperation Evaluation Office is given the responsibility of participating in international evaluation networks. In this context, according to the Government, “establishing links with SWEO represents a strategic opportunity to strengthen this international presence.”
