Japan’s new ambassador, Hiroshi Yamauchi, presents the Style Copies

Eduardo González The new Japanese ambassador to Spain, Hiroshi Yamauchi, presented his Letters of Credence to the Director General of Protocol, Adrián Martín Couce, on Monday at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, according to diplomatic sources who spoke to The Diplomat. Yamauchi, born in Hiroshima in 1965 and a law graduate from Kyoto University, joined the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1987. Within the Ministry, he served as Director of the Office for Combating Terrorism Against Japanese Citizens in the Bureau of Consular Affairs, Deputy Director General of the Foreign Policy Office, and Director of the Intelligence and Analysis Service, among other positions. Abroad, he served as First Secretary and Counselor at the Japanese Embassy in Peru, Counselor and Chargé d'Affaires in Mexico, and Chargé d'Affaires in Italy. Since September 2022, he had been serving as ambassador to Argentina. Hiroshi Yamauchi succeeds Takahiro Nakamae, who had been stationed in Madrid since September 2022. Interestingly, Nakamae was also appointed ambassador to Spain immediately after serving as ambassador to Argentina, where he was replaced by Hiroshi Yamauchi.
