At the beginning of October, the Egyptian Armed Forces Day was celebrated, commemorating the 52nd October Victory. In his address, the Military Attaché of the Embassy, Brigadier General Mohamed El Sadat, emphasized that this victory “restored the dignity of Egypt, the pride of our nation, and the greatness of its army.”
“This victory,” he continued, “will remain throughout history as a reflection of the greatness of a people and the pride of a nation. Its battles will continue to be a symbol of the glory of the Egyptian army and its ability to achieve great things despite numerous challenges and difficulties. The great Egyptian people had complete faith in the ability of their armed forces to achieve victory and restore our land.”
The Brigadier General wished to offer “a special salute of reverence to the October Generation of the Armed Forces, who restored to our homeland its land and its dignity with their determination, courage, heroism, and ability to overcome the impossible. A salute of veneration to the souls of our righteous martyrs, who gave their lives in sacrifice for the homeland and its pride. A salute also to the one who made the decisions in the war, the late President Mohamed Anwar El-Sadat, who made his decision with faith in God, the people, and the capacity of our Armed Forces to achieve victory and defeat the aggressors.”
“The men of the Armed Forces,” the Egyptian military attaché continued, “are sons of that great nation, who contributed to its glory and still protect its resources. Their efforts have continued to eradicate terrorism, both within our homeland and beyond its borders if necessary, to preserve national security and protect our sacred homeland at all times. The cohesion of the Egyptian people with their Armed Forces remains strong in defense of our nation’s resources and in the face of difficult regional and international circumstances. Egypt has a proud Armed Forces that remain ever vigilant and capable of achieving maximum reach in the shortest possible time to protect Egyptian interests against all current challenges and threats. A force capable of deterring anyone who attempts to cross the red lines drawn by the Egyptian state. Egypt, which fought and recovered its territory, is the same Egypt that always seeks peace. Egypt has never initiated wars or conflicts to achieve illegitimate ambitions or to seize, without right, the possessions and resources of others. On the contrary, the country Egypt always strives to build bridges of cooperation as a sound strategy for achieving prosperity, construction, and development.”
“In recent years, Egypt has witnessed a tremendous transformation across all sectors of the country’s development, within a context of close cooperation and mutual respect for the right of neighboring states to live in security. The manifestations of prosperity in Egypt also include massive economic projects that are restoring Egypt to its leading position in the region, in cooperation with its brothers and friends in the Arab region, as well as with all other foreign countries.”
“What has been achieved in terms of supporting the common interests of our two countries (Egypt and Spain),” Mohamed El Sadat noted, “in a short period of intense work across all areas of military cooperation, was based on firm principles and our shared desire to see it through in recent times. Undoubtedly, the security challenges we are witnessing in the Middle East compel us to act responsibly toward a common goal: restoring regional stability and achieving security in its comprehensive sense, without ignoring the particularities of each society and categorically rejecting the principle of interference in the internal affairs of states under any circumstances.”
