Fundación Casa de Mexico invites you to enjoy next Friday, September 12 at 7 pm the concert of Son de Madera, a group of son jarocho. Price: 10 €.
Based on the recreation of the elements that make up the fandango, Son de Madera will recreate the music, singing, poetry and improvisation of an exceptional musical genre. Through a unique experience, the audience will be able to immerse themselves in an artistic manifestation where tradition and innovation meet to resignify the world through music.
Through creativity and artistic exploration, the Veracruzano group will offer an innovative and vibrant performance that preserves the roots of traditional Mexican music while opening up to experimentation with new techniques and sounds.
Son de Madera is a son jarocho band founded by Ramón Gutiérrez Hernández in Xalapa, Veracruz, in 1992. The group has had the honor of bringing son jarocho to the main forums and festivals in Mexico and the world, keeping its tradition and vibrant spirit alive. The group has shared its music at venues such as the Zócalo in Mexico City and at international festivals such as the World Music Festival; the Afrocaribeño Festival; the Mar de Músicas Festival; the Blues and Roots Festival; the Smithsonian Folkways Festival, among others.
In 2023 their music director was awarded the Grammy’s for his musical work within the project Fandango at the Wall on the album of Jazz Latino; and have been nominated in the 9th edition of the Independent Music Awards in the categories of Best Latin Album, Best Latin Song and Best Cover; Also, they were awarded the Award for Best Traditional Music Show at Las Lunas del Auditorio 2015.
