Participation of Ecuador as a guest country at the festival La Mar de Músicas, to be held in Cartagena (Murcia), from 17 to 25 July 2026.
The Ambassador of Ecuador, Wilma Andrade, noted that “it is an honor that Ecuador is the country invited to one of the most important cultural festivals in Europe. During 2026, Cartagena will be a showcase of our music, cinema, literature and contemporary art”.
La Mar de Músicas is an international festival organized by the City of Cartagena, recognized for its multicultural approach. Each year it devotes a space to an invited country, to present its artistic and cultural wealth to the residents of the port city. This 2025 South Korea was the invited country.
The mayor of Cartagena, Noelia Arroyo, stressed that the choice of Ecuador as a guest country responds to the commitment of the festival to promote intercultural dialogue: “La Mar de Músicas has been building bridges between cultures for more than three decades. Making Ecuador visible is also a recognition of a community very present in our city, which has enriched Cartagena with its identity and effort”.
The Ecuador 2026 Special will bring to the public the various traditional and contemporary cultural expressions of the Andean country, while consolidating Cartagena as a city promoting cultural exchange.
