The Ethiopian ambassador to Spain residing in France, Mahlet Hailu Guadey, presents her Credentials

The Ethiopian ambassador to Spain, residing in France, Mahlet Hailu Guadey, presented the Credentials of her Letters of Credence this Thursday to the Director General of Protocol, Adrián Martín Couce, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, according to diplomatic sources informed The Diplomat.

With a degree in Arts, Political Science, and International Relations from Addis Ababa University and a Master’s degree in International Relations from the National Conservatory of Arts and Crafts in Paris, Mahlet Hailu Guadey began her diplomatic career as an Attaché in 1998 at the Directorate General of African Affairs.

She subsequently held various positions in the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in the Directorate of Africa, and later in the Directorate General of Africa, at the Consulate in Los Angeles as Vice Consul, and at the Embassy in Paris as Chargé d’Affaires.

From 2011 to 2016, she served as head of the Department of Protocol and External Relations before moving to New York as Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative of Ethiopia to the United Nations.

In 2021 and 2022, she served as Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative of Ethiopia to the United Nations in Geneva. She is currently Ethiopia’s Ambassador to France, also accredited to Portugal, Spain, and the Holy See, as well as Ethiopia’s Permanent Delegate to UNESCO.
