Next Thursday 21 March at 8pm, the Instituto Francés of Madrid will screen the drama based on real events, Camille Claudel, 1915, directed by Bruno Dumont and starring Juliette Binoche.
Camille Claudel 1915 is a 2013 French biographical film written and directed by Bruno Dumont, it premiered in competition at the Berlin International Film Festival. It is based on sculptor Camille Claudel’s three decades of confinement in a psychiatric hospital. Ever since she abandoned her master and lover, Auguste Rodin, Camille Claudel has watched her soul waste away as she shut herself away in solitude and silence. In the winter of 1915, interned by her family in an asylum in the South of France, Camille Claudel is waiting for a visit from her brother, Paul Claudel, who could bring her out of this hell.
