Bangladesh’s ambassador calls for greater efforts to preserve minority languages

Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Spain, Mohammad Sarwar Mahmood, called for greater efforts and sensitivity to preserve endangered languages spoken by minority communities during a seminar jointly organised by the Embassy and the King Juan Carlos University on 28 February.

 

In his speech, the ambassador also reviewed the contributions of the Father of the Bengali Nation to the language preservation movement on International Mother Language Day 2024.

In addition to Ambassador Mohammad Mahmood, the event was attended by Carlos Uriarte and Rana Gafarova, professors at King Juan Carlos University, and Javier Porras, from CEU San Pablo University.

The event was attended by numerous academics and representatives of civil organisations, think tanks, members of the diplomatic community and Bengalis living in Spain.
