The Diplomat
Turkey’s new ambassador to Spain, Nüket Küçükel Ezberci, presented copies of her Letters of Credence to the Introducer of Ambassadors, María Sebastián de Erice, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs last week.
Küçükel Ezberci replaces Burak Akçapar, who has been at the helm of the Embassy since May 2021.
The new ambassador joined the diplomatic service in 1992 and was already posted in Spain from 2001 to 2005 as first secretary. Previously, between 1994 and 1999, she served in the Turkish consulates general in Essen and Jerusalem.
After returning from her posting in Madrid, she was appointed deputy director of the Political Affairs Department of the Secretariat General for the European Union, a position she held until 2007, when, following the unexpected death of her parents, she left the ministry to take charge of the family-owned Güven Hospital.
Born in Bremen (Germany) in 1969, she graduated from TED College in Ankara in 1986, and after completing her university education at Harlaxton College (Grantham / England), she studied International Relations at Bilkent University in Ankara.
