The Spanish government yesterday “strongly” condemned the terrorist attack on Sunday against the Shah Cheragh mosque in southern Iran, which killed one person and wounded seven others.

In a statement, the Foreign Ministry also expressed its condolences to the relatives of the victims and its wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured, reports Europa Press.

According to all accounts, at least two gunmen, both foreigners, proceeded to open indiscriminate fire on Sunday on worshippers at the mosque.

The Shah Cheragh mosque in southern Iran was the scene only a few months ago of one of the worst Islamic State attacks in the Islamic republic, in which at least 13 people were killed.
