The New York singer-songwriter of Sephardic origin Leilah Broukhim presents her first album The Curve, accompanied by guitarist Nico Martin, at the Centro Sefarad-Israel on Thursday 2 March at 6 pm.
Moving and tender, sincere and emotional, this is how Leilah Broukhim’s first EP, available on all digital platforms since 3 November, is defined.
Produced by Fernando Vacas, The Curve takes us on a musical journey from Folk to Soul, passing through Country and Rock, with a clear psychedelic vibe that unites the 5 songs. The album is an expansive leap in sound from the singer’s first singles, as she is backed by a band of formidable musicians: Nico Martín on electric guitar, Jesús Caparrós on bass, Shayan Fathi on drums; and features collaborations with artists such as Enriquito (trumpet, friscorn), Tony Romero (keyboard), Tete Leal (flute) and Daryl Hockin (pedal steel). With a sweet and powerful voice that recalls a vintage 70’s feeling, Leilah Broukhim unravels close stories of life and love. Both her lyrics and her melodies awaken a deep sensitivity in those who listen to her music.
Born and raised in Manhattan, Leilah not only creates music but is also a flamenco dancer. Her Jewish-Iranian roots are a major influence on her connection to Spain and the history of Sephardic culture. Free admission, free tickets can be booked at this link.
