As part of the parallel activities organised in collaboration with the Teatro Real in Madrid and the cycle of meetings Italia all’opera, next Monday 20 February at 7 p.m., the Instituto Italiano de Cultura of Madrid is organising the conference Achille in Sciro (Achilles in Sciros), de Metastasio a Corselli (a not so serious opera) with Prof. Álvaro Torrente, Professor of History of Music at the Complutense University of Madrid.
Prof. Torrente, who together with Professor Ana Llorens has edited the score of Achille in Sciro, an opera by Francesco Corselli with libretto by Pietro Metastasio which is being performed at the Teatro Real until 23 February, will talk about Achille in Sciros and his brilliant career as a researcher, scholar and writer. The work, premiered today at the Teatro Real, features the Orquesta Barroca de Sevilla and Coro Titular del Teatro Real, along with the musical director and harpsichordist Ivor Bolton and the voices of Mirco Palazzi, Tim Mead, Francesca Aspromonte, Sabina Puértolas and Franco Fagioli, among others.
