The chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Spanish Congress of Deputies, Pau Marí-Klose, has received the Romanian ambassador to Spain, George Bologan, in his office.
At the meeting held last Thursday, ways to deepen the dialogue between the Spanish and Romanian Parliaments were analysed, according to a note from the Romanian Embassy in Madrid.
The note stresses that this desire to increase bilateral relations between the two Chambers, within the framework of the upcoming Spanish Presidency of the Council of the EU, is based on the fact that “Romania and Spain share a common vision of a more united and internationally active European Union, capable of offering concrete solutions to global problems such as climate change or economic and demographic challenges”, as well as the existence of “excellent political, diplomatic, economic and human relations”.
According to the note, Pau Marí-Klose assured the active support of the Spanish Parliament and, in particular, of the Commission he chairs, for Romania’s accession to the Schengen area.
“He also expressed his appreciation for the very high level of integration of the Romanian community in Spain, which represents a valuable component of Spanish society and economy and a proof of the depth of human ties within the European family”, adds the Romanian Embassy, which also indicates that Marí-Klose expressed his support for the conclusion of a dual nationality agreement, “which would advance integration and reinforce the feeling of European identity”.
