Next Sunday 15th January at 11.30 am, the Fundación Excelentia presents the Concierto de Aranjuez, by the maestro Joaquín Rodrigo, at the Chamber Hall of the Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid.
On 3 September 1939, two days after the outbreak of the Second World War, Joaquín Rodrigo and his wife crossed the Spanish border. Barely carrying any luggage, they brought with them the Braille manuscript of the Concierto de Aranjuez…
This masterpiece will be performed by the Orquesta Clásica Santa Cecilia and the virtuoso guitarist, Alejandro Hurtado, conducted by José Luis López Antón. The concert will be completed with Mendelssohn’s beautiful overture The Hebrides and Beethoven’s Viennese Symphony No. 4.
