This evening at 7pm, Casa América presents a dialogue entitled That Secret Energy of Everyday Life: 40 Years of the Nobel Prize to Gabriel García Márquez. Free admission until full capacity is reached.
To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the awarding and presentation of the Nobel Prize for Literature to Gabriel García Márquez, which will take place in October and December of this year, respectively, Casa de América is programming this event in collaboration with the Instituto Caro y Cuervo and the Colombian Embassy. The dialogue will deal with the social and political circumstances surrounding such an important episode in Latin American literary history. These circumstances were marked by the escalation of the internal armed conflict, the emergence of the war against drug trafficking and the exile of the master García Márquez in Mexico.
After some words of welcome by Luis Prados Covarrubias, director of programming at Casa de América, Alexandra Saavedra, professor at the Faculty of Philology at the Complutense University of Madrid, and Daniel Samper Pizano, writer and journalist, will take part in the event. Martín Gómez, delegate of the Instituto Caro y Cuervo in Spain, will moderate the event. The event can be followed online on Casa América’s Youtube channel.
