The President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella, will pay a state visit to Spain on 16 and 17 November, accompanied by his daughter Laura Mattarella, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs officially announced yesterday.
Matarella, who will also be accompanied by the Italian Foreign Minister Luigi di Maio, will be received by Their Majesties the King and Queen of Spain, who will host a gala dinner in his honour at the Royal Palace, where he will be awarded the Collar of the Order of Isabella the Catholic.
The Italian head of state will also visit the Moncloa Palace to meet with the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez.
During his stay in Spain, Mattarella will be decorated with the Medals of Congress and the Senate, which will be presented to him by the presidents of both chambers, Meritxell Batet and Ander Gil, respectively.
He will also visit the City Hall of the Spanish capital, where the Mayor of the city, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, will present him with the Golden Key of the City of Madrid.
Finally, the Italian President will travel to Malaga to participate, together with Don Felipe and the President of Portugal, Marcelo Rebello de Sousa, in the Cotec-Europe innovation meeting, which this year reaches its fourteenth edition.
