Ambassador of Italy claims more Europe in the face of political crises

Italy’s ambassador, Stefano Sannino, yesterday made a firm commitment to a stronger Europe during the diplomatic reception he offered on the occasion of the Italian National Day, which, like last year, will have a commemoration open to the public during this weekend in Madrid’s Matadero.

Sannino (in the photo above with her husband, Santiago Mondragón, on the left, and flanked by the ambassadors of France, Yves Saint-Geours, and Germany, Peter Tempel, with his wife) pointed out, in reference to the ITmakES project, that “everything what we do is designed to foster cooperation between Spain and Italy, to be stronger and more competitive together in a global world, starting within the European Union, which we want to improve in order to respond to the concerns expressed by our societies”.

Accompanied by the president of Umbria, Catiuscia Marini, the Italian ambassador highlighted the work done by the Embassy and the Chamber of Commerce of Italy to promote collaboration with Spanish autonomies. Among the results of this collaboration, Sannino highlighted the agreement recently signed with the Madrid City Council to develop a professional reinvention program aimed at the LGBT community. “Breaking the wall of indifference and silence is essential so that all people, regardless of their sexual orientation, are treated with equality and respect”, he said.

Before a crowd of guests, among whom political crises in Italy and Spain were the main topic of conversation, Sannino did not avoid the special political circumstances of the day, starting with the no-confidence motion in Spanish Congress. For this reason, he sent a “very special greeting to the secretaries of state and representatives of political parties that accompany us on this night, which is quite special” and expressed his gratitude to them for attending the reception.

The party was attended by many ambassadors, diplomats, politicians, businessmen and representatives of culture and media.
