Casa Árabe addresses LGBT people situation in Arab countries

Coinciding with the celebration in Madrid of the World Pride 2017, Casa Árabe organizes, this afternoon at 19:00 hrs, a dialogue about the situation for LGBT people in Arab countries, between Hafedh Trifi, member of the executive committee of the Tunisian Association for Justice and Equality (Damj), and Álvaro Zamarreño, journalist for Cadena SER.

Factors related to gender and identity in Arab societies create intense debates, where prejudice and ignorance predominate. Demanding human rights is a pending task for many people, and in particular for minorities like the group of LGBT people. Casa Árabe joins the initiative of the Community of Madrid to break barriers and generate a space to meet and dialogue, but also for knowledge and recognition.
