The Council of Ministers last Friday approved a Royal Decree granting the Necklace of the Order of Isabel la Católica to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbáyev.
Nazarbáyev, the only president of Kazakhstan since independence from the newly disappeared USSR in December 1991, has always had a close relationship with King Juan Carlos and has always shown great willingness towards Spanish companies. Talgo, Maxam, Typsa or Repsol have important interests in the country.
The Kazakh leader received King Philip VI on 10 June, during the first official trip of the monarch to Kazakhstan on the occasion of the opening of the international exhibition of Astana. Apart from this, it is planned for this summer the official visit of the President of the Government, Mariano Rajoy, to celebrate the Day of Spain in the Expo.
