The acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel García-Margallo, said yesterday in Brussels that following the lifting of sanctions on Iran, he sees “good opportunities for business” for Spanish companies in that country, and drew attention to the visit he made to Tehran last September with the Ministers of Development and of  Industry and a trade mission.

García-Margallo gave as an example the possibility of Iran establishing a refinery in Spain, specifically in Algeciras, which would contribute to creating employment in Campo de Gibraltar. Iran announced on 10 January that it would be investing in the construction of an oil refinery in Spain, capable of producing 200.000 barrels of crude daily, in order to guarantee the sale of Iranian hydrocarbons abroad.
