On July 5, at Centro Riojano of Madrid, the Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova, Violeta Agrici, presented the III World Conference of the UNWTO on Oenological Tourism, which will take place on September 6 and 7 in the Moldovan capital, Chisinau.

“Wine for my country”, the ambassador pointed out, “is much more than an agricultural product. Wine is an integral part of our being. Wine is related to our culture, history and traditions. The Republic of Moldova has a very fertile land, with low hills, sunny steppes and many watercourses, which flow into the two main rivers of our geography, the Dniester and the Prut.”

The Moldovan representative was accompanied by Zurab Pololikashvili, Secretary General of the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and Stanislav Rusu, in charge of the Area of Tourism in the National Agency of Investment of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure of the Republic of Moldova, who emphasized the main data that the oenological tourism of Moldova can offer to tourists.

Moldavia is the ideal host for the 3rd World Conference on Oenological Tourism of the UNWTO, since, as well as being the home for the world’s biggest winery, it has positioned as a world wine producer. Moldova has endless vineyards, a strong sense of community and a rich culture with unique music, dance, food, poetry, architecture and handmade products. In combination with the wine, this creates an authentic and unique experience for tourists from all over the world.

The event was attended by a large diplomatic representation, which included the new president of Centro Riojano of Madrid, José Antonio Rupérez, as host. The ambassadors of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Slovenia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Serbia, Tunisia, the Arab League, Romania, Cyprus and Qatar, among others, were also present.
