Händel’s ‘Alcina’ at the Institut Français in Madrid
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Pre-recorded broadcast of Alcina, this afternoon at 20 hrs at the Institut Français in Madrid. On the first Tuesday of every month from now until June 2016, this diplomatic headquarters is offering the Madrid opera lovers a rendez-vous ópera, broadcasting in its theatre some of the best operas performed at the famous Aix-en-Provence Festival. Admission free. Seating limited.

Nothing of the intimate, secret or even more the morbid, is alien to the British stage designer Katie Mitchell in her version of this opera. Under her direction, Katie Mitchell eroticises Händel’s Alcina at the Aix-en-Provence Festival with a very carnal production in which the counter-tenor, literally, goes to bed with the soprano Patricia Petibon.
