Centro Cultural Coreano of Madrid hosts, until 7 March, its first exhibition of 2016 with Exhibition of Suh Gong Im: Minhwa, at the Han-ul Gallery of the Centre.
Minhwa, people or popular painting, was used by people in ancient Korea to decorate houses and express their hope for a long and happy life, harmony and prosperity. This type of painting represents traditional genres from old times, where animals and elements (cranes, tigers, clouds, sun, stones…) symbolize the daily lives of South Koreans and their traditions. Its main characteristic is the use of excessive expressions, which produce a marked surrealism.
