The Diplomat
The Costa Rican ambassador to Spain, Ana Helena Chacón, will leave her post on 1 August, after being dismissed as a result of the change of government in that country.
Ana Helena Chacón, who served as Vice-President of Costa Rica under the administration of Luis Guillermo Solís, was sent to Spain as ambassador at the end of 2018 by the government of Carlos Alvarado.
During her stay in Spain, she has been intensely active in trying to strengthen bilateral relations and raise awareness of Costa Rica among Spaniards. A few days ago, for example, she participated in an event organised by The Diplomat to promote Costa Rican coffee.
Ana Helena Chacón will now return to Costa Rica, after the new president, Rodrigo Chaves, who took office on 8 May, decided to replace a large group of ambassadors, including herself.
