A total of 33 candidates have passed the latest competitive examination for entry into the Diplomatic Service, corresponding to the 77th class. The overall tally of successful candidates is 22 men and 11 women, reversing the trend of two consecutive classes with a female majority.
Specifically, according to Tuesday’s Official State Gazette (BOE), 21 men and 11 women passed the examination within the general access system. In addition, one man passed the access system reserved for people with disabilities; specifically, he was the only one to reach the final stage.
The first class with more women than men was the 74th, approved in December 2022 and held in 2023, which included 21 women and 14 men, for a total of 35 positions. It was, therefore, the first class in the history of the Diplomatic Service with more female than male representation. The first graduating class with equal numbers of women was the previous one, the LXXIII, with 17 men and 17 women.
The second class with the most women was the 2024 class, the LXXVI, with a total of 17 women and 11 men, while the LXXVII class of the Diplomatic Service, in 2025, also registered more women for the third time in history (16, compared to 13 men). In addition, one woman was admitted through the system reserved for people with disabilities.
