The 2025-2026 Academic Merit Award ceremony will take place on July 16th at 5:00 PM in the Simón Bolívar Room at Casa de América (Plaza de la Cibeles, s/n, Madrid). Admission is by invitation only.
The Embassy of the Dominican Republic to the Kingdom of Spain established the Academic Merit Award in 2008 to recognize the academic excellence, effort, and civic values of students of Dominican origin residing in Spain. In its 16th edition (2025-2026 school year), this award recognizes young people who have distinguished themselves through outstanding academic performance and exemplary behavior.
Beyond the award itself, this initiative seeks to strengthen students’ ties with the Dominican Republic, providing them with the opportunity to experience the country from a broader and more enriching perspective. As part of the program, the awardees take a cultural and educational trip in which they visit various public, educational and cultural institutions, allowing them to learn firsthand about the workings of the main national entities, appreciate the Dominican historical and cultural heritage and strengthen their connection with their roots, their identity and knowledge of their country of origin.
