Before embarking on their live shows across Spain, PERUJAZZ will present their album ‘PERUJAZZ en vivo — 2023 gira europea’ at Casa de América on July 3rd, along with the premiere of their short documentary film.
The program, which will take place on Friday, July 3rd, at 8:00 PM in the Gabriela Mistral Amphitheater, entrance at C/ Marqués del Duero, 2 (Madrid), combines a 50-minute live showcase with the premiere of Diego Cendra’s documentary. Admission is free until capacity is reached. The event is organized by Casa de América, the Embassy of Peru in Spain, and PERUJAZZ itself.
Founded in Lima in 1984, PERUJAZZ is one of the pioneering groups in the fusion of contemporary jazz with the musical roots of the coast, highlands, and rainforest of Peru. Their music blends Afro-Peruvian percussion and musical languages from Peru with contemporary jazz and improvisation, creating a sound that is both ancestral and contemporary.
Current lineup: Manongo Mujica (drums and percussion), Jean Pierre Magnet (saxophones), Andrés Prado (guitar), Julio Zavala (bass), and César Ballumbrosio (percussion, violin, and Afro-Peruvian tap dancing).
PERUJAZZ will complete its Spanish tour with two concerts: July 11 at Café Berlín in Madrid and July 13 at La Nau in Barcelona.
