Spain will receive the sixth disbursement of Next Generation funds “in the coming weeks”

The Diplomat Spain will receive the sixth tranche of Next Generation funds “in the coming weeks,” amounting to approximately €6.5 billion, and the government is already working to request the seventh and final disbursement, of around €26.6 billion. This was announced on Tuesday by Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez during the 11th meeting of the Interministerial Commission for Recovery, Transformation and Resilience, held at the Moncloa Palace, where progress in the implementation of Next Generation funds and the final steps to successfully complete the Plan were analyzed. During the meeting, according to Moncloa, the Prime Minister highlighted the efforts made by the various ministries to receive the sixth disbursement, requested last March and expected "in the coming weeks." This will allow Spain to receive approximately €6.5 billion, of which €5.5 billion will be in grants and €1 billion in loans. According to the Government, Spain continues to lead the European Union in the number of milestones and objectives met (265), pending validation of the sixth disbursement by the European Commission. Spain has already requested 75 percent of the total funds available to the country. Regarding the implementation and achievement of milestones and objectives using these funds, Spain had already processed, as of March 31, calls for proposals totaling more than €66.982 billion, reaching over 1.46 million beneficiaries, 69.7% of whom are micro-enterprises and SMEs. The deadline for implementing the Plan is August 31. Therefore, according to Moncloa Palace, the ministries and other public administrations involved are working to ensure that milestones are met in preparation for requesting the seventh and final disbursement of approximately €21 billion gross in transfers and €5.6 billion gross in loans, within the established deadline of September 30.
