The Miguel de Cervantes Room at Casa de América will host the discussion ‘Fiction and Reality: The Mirror of Contemporary Dominican Narrative’ next Monday, June 1st, as part of the Madrid Book Fair. The event brings together three prominent writers from the Dominican Republic to reflect on the relationship between fiction and reality in their country’s current context.
Through their works, the authors address social, political, and historical issues that, far from belonging solely to the past, continue to shape contemporary Dominican life. The meeting is conceived as a space for dialogue where literature becomes a tool for exploring memory, identity, and the challenges of the present.
The writers Ángela Hernández, Carmen Imbert Brugal, and Aralís Rodríguez have extensive literary careers and, from their perspectives and creative experiences, will share the concerns that permeate their respective works, ranging from deeply personal perspectives to reflections of collective scope.
The event, organized by Casa de América, the Embassy of the Dominican Republic in Spain, and Huerga & Fierro Editores, will take place in the Miguel de Cervantes Room at Casa de América (Plaza de Cibeles, Madrid) on Monday, June 1, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. Admission is free until capacity is reached.
