Brazil and Casa de América celebrate Lusophony Day with compositions by Roberto Laborda

The Brazilian Embassy in Spain, in collaboration with Casa de América, will present a musical program this coming Friday, May 22nd, featuring compositions by the acclaimed Brazilian conductor and pianist Roberto Laborda as part of the Lusophony Day celebrations.

The program will highlight works titled ‘Senzalas,’ compositions for symphony orchestra, chamber music, and concertos, which address diverse themes and reflect the broad spectrum of Brazilian culture.

The evening will feature the Madrid Soloists Ensemble, a string and wind quintet, who will perform, among other pieces, Romanza de Riga, premiered in Vienna in 2023 and winner of first prize at the Vienna Academy of Music International Competition. Soprano Solange Aroca will perform excerpts from the opera Irmá Dulce, which premiered at the Palazzo Pamphili in Rome during the celebrations for the canonization of Saint Dulce at the Vatican (2019).
