Ayuso claims she needed an “escort” to reach the plane, and the Government accuses her of being a “conspiracy theorist”

For his part, the Minister of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory, Ángel Víctor Torres, has asked the Madrid leader to clarify whether she used the security protocol established for this type of visit or if she prefers, instead, to subscribe to “conspiracy theories.” In statements to the program “El Análisis Diario de la Noche” on Telemadrid, Ayuso asserted on Tuesday night that, since her arrival in Mexico, she suffered “a daily boycott instigated by the country’s president,” Claudia Sheinbaum, “who dedicated hours of television time to me on programs like ‘Aló Presidente.’” She also accused Pedro Sánchez's government of having "added fuel to the fire" from Spain to undermine her. "It's clear that our government and the Mexican government were working together," the Madrid president asserted. As a result, she continued, she was forced to cancel the last part of her trip because both she and her team found themselves in a situation of "extreme danger." "Due to a security issue, we decided to cut it short," she stated. "I had to have an escort right up to the plane," she complained. Sources at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed on Tuesday that, "at no point during her trip to Mexico did the president of the Community of Madrid communicate any security problems or concerns to the Spanish Embassy or the Ministry, nor did she wish to share her schedule." Furthermore, they added, "her team declined the security that the Mexican government typically offers in these cases, which was conveyed to her through the Embassy." Regarding this, Ángel Víctor Torres challenged Ayuso this Wednesday, in statements to 'La hora de La 1', to demonstrate whether she had followed the security protocol established by the Government for this case, including prior notification of the trip and agenda to “the relevant authorities”, or “if what we have is that she returns to Spain and, then, the first thing she does is generate controversy, which is what it seems”. “She is obliged to say that she requested this cooperation, that it was done in contact with the authorities of both countries, and, if not, again, conspiracy theories: it's others and everyone who is against me in a conspiracy, in a paranoia that defines her,” he added.
