Author: Víctor Hugo Morales.
The Embassy of Uruguay, the Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI) and the Club Uruguay in Madrid present this afternoon at 5 p.m. at the headquarters of the OEI (calle Bravo Murillo, 38) a talk with the Rioplatense journalist Víctor Hugo Morales for the presentation of his new book Un ciudadano común en dictadura (A Common Citizen in Dictatorship) (Editorial Sudamericana).
In this book, the renowned journalist Víctor Hugo Morales presents a revealing journey through unpublished documents of the Junta de Comandantes en Jefe of the Uruguayan dictatorship. With an incisive and courageous look, the author dissects the archives that targeted him and thus offers an analytical perspective on the mechanisms of power and repression.
But an ordinary citizen in a dictatorship is not only a window into the past, it is also a mirror of the present. Victor Hugo includes a series of disquisitions about the dictatorship that resonates in the current context, exploring how the shadows of those regimes still project on our societies.
