Guide at Casa Asia in Madrid to orient yourself in Hinduism

As part of the Dual Year Spain-India 2026, Casa Asia de Madrid (calle Mayor, 69) presents on Wednesday, March 25 at 7 p.m. the conference Guide to orient in Hinduism, the third most practiced religion in our days and the oldest of the major religions today. Free activity upon registration.

In its three millennia of history, Hinduism has gone through multiple stages and diversified into countless very different currents. It is easy to get lost in that maze of beliefs, practices, conceptions of the divine, spiritualities, mythologies, theologies, etc., which make up the Hindu tradition.

In this conference, we will try to clarify both the phases of its evolution and the essential elements that constitute it; that is, present a historical and systematic “map” that serves to orient itself in Hinduism.

The lecture will be given by Javier Ruiz Calderón, Professor of Asian Philosophies at the Complutense University of Madrid, specialist in Indian thought and philosophy of religion and author of the books: Hinduism and its actuality (1996), Dhammapada (2004), Brief history of Hinduism (2008), The Bhagavadgītā (2008), Vedāntasāra: The Essence of Vedānta (2009), The Surrender to the Divine. Outline of a philosophy of religion (2019), The religious. Diversity, unity and structure (2021), What is Hinduism? (2024) and Tattvabodha: Knowledge of Reality (2026). He has been studying and practicing yoga and vedānta regularly for forty years and since twenty is a disciple of Matā Amṛtānandamayī Devī (Ammā).
