From 14 to 29 April, Spain will host for the first time Coffee Master, the great Specialty Coffee Route that will turn Madrid and Zaragoza into the epicenter of international coffee culture, with the support of the Embassy of Colombia in Spain and the Government of Aragon, and that it will have the American country as the protagonist.
The Coffee Master Spain was born with a clear purpose: to connect culture, gastronomy, innovation and origin around the specialty coffee, bringing together for two weeks cafes, baristas, roasters, experts and coffee lovers in a program that combines sensory experience, training, competition and cultural diplomacy.
The official opening of Coffee Master Spain will take place on 14 April at the Embassy of Colombia, in Madrid, while the closing and award ceremony will be held on 29 April at the Palacio de Congresos in Zaragoza. Both events take place within the framework of a professional meeting that seeks to visibilize the growth of specialty coffee in Aragon and strengthen ties with Colombia as an international reference in quality coffee.
These acts have the support of the Government of Colombia through the Embassy of Colombia, headed by Ambassador Eduardo Ávila Navarrete, in the framework of the Cultural and Coffee Diplomacy Strategy promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Colombia, which promotes coffee as a symbol of identity, excellence and sustainable development.
Also, the event has the institutional support and sponsorship of the Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Food of the Government of Aragon, through the campaign Aragon, Taste of Truth, which highlights products with roots, origin and identity.
The support of these institutions reinforces the strategic character of Coffee Master Spain, which transcends the gastronomic and consolidates itself as a platform for cultural, economic and commercial exchange between Colombia and Spain.
Madrid, one of the European capitals with the highest growth in specialty coffee consumption, and Zaragoza, a strategic city for its location and gastronomic dynamism, will be the venues of this first edition. In recent years, Spain has experienced a year-on-year growth of about 4% in specialty coffee consumption, with more than 2,000 cafes.
During the contest, the registered specialty cafes of Madrid and Zaragoza will offer a signature drink made with 100% Colombian coffee, created exclusively for Coffee Master. The public will be able to try and vote for their favorite proposal, becoming an active part of this great coffee route. A professional jury will evaluate the drinks according to criteria of creativity, technique, narrative and sensory experience.
In its first edition in Spain, Coffee Master projects the participation of more than 50 cafes. During the 14 days of the contest, it is estimated that between 20,000 and 25,000 official drinks will be sold at a single price of €3, which implies a direct economic mobilization relevant to the sector, without taking into account the impact on complementary sales in each establishment.
The event will have a parallel schedule that will include:
.- A cultural program promoted by the Embassy of Colombia in Spain, with talks, discussions and meetings around coffee as an artistic, social and historical expression.
.- Technical activities aimed at baristas and professionals in the sector.
.- Specialized tastings and live demonstrations.
.- Networking spaces for companies and entrepreneurs.
The official machine of the event will be the Italian company Sanremo Coffee Machines, international reference in technology for specialty coffee and high competition.
