Author: Estefanía Molina

In Los hijos de los boomers (The children of the boomers), the political analyst, writer and journalist Estefanía Molina gives a voice to a generation: denounces the Spanish passover against the dramas of her youth – housing, wages and precariousness – and explains why so many young people are drawn to authoritarianism and the far right, owing to the demise of the middle class and a political system based on the interests of baby boomers, such as pensions, which no longer serve their children. The author calls for a new social contract and courageous reforms, because there is a risk that this anti-establishment generation, raised in discomfort, will soon raze political conquests and a welfare state that already shows signs of exhaustion.
In the words of the book’s author, “democracy is legitimized not only by its virtues – equality, freedom – but also by its outcomes. That’s where we’re failing our young people.”
