‘Validity of Mexican humanism in the face of current neo-colonialism’

Tomorrow Thursday at 7 p.m., the Instituto Cultural of Mexico in Spain (Carrera de San Jerónimo, 46) presents the conversation Validity of Mexican humanism in the face of current neocolonialism. From the critique of conquest to Spanish republican exile.

This event was attended by the Mexican academic Ambrosio Velasco, from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), and the Spanish academic Antolín Sánchez Cuervo, from the Center of the Superior Council of Scientific Research (CSIC).

We will talk about the republican tradition of Mexican humanism and its critical possibilities in the current global context. This tradition, which dates back to the critique of the conquest and reaches our days, in the orbit, in no few cases, of the intellectual legacy of the Spanish exile of 1939, offers numerous keys to reflect on the serious authoritarian and neo-imperialist derivations of today’s world. and on the geopolitical violence that accompanies them to the detriment of the right and autonomy of peoples and nations.
