Concert dedicated to the great German vocal repertoire at Instituto Goethe

Next Friday, February 20 at 7:30 p.m., the Singing Department of the Centro Superior Progreso Musical presents at the Instituto Goethe in Madrid (calle Zurbarán, 21) a concert dedicated to the great German vocal repertoire, with special emphasis on the Liebeslieder-Walzer by Johannes Brahms. Entry reservation at this link. Free admission.

The program is completed with works by other fundamental composers of German Romanticism such as Wagner, Schumann and Schubert, with piano accompaniment by Teresa Cos and vocal preparation by Rita Moldao.

Brahms’s Liebeslieder-Walzer constitute one of the most refined and enchanting works in his vocal production. Written for four-handed vocal quartet and piano, these waltzes are inspired by texts of a romantic and popular character, and combine an apparent expressive simplicity with a great musical richness. Brahms takes the tradition of the Viennese waltz as a starting point to create an intimate and elegant music, in which humor, tenderness and melancholy coexist. Through brief miniatures, the work stands out for the delicate dialogue between vocals and piano as well as its ability to convey a wide range of human emotions, becoming a key piece of German romanticism and vocal chamber repertoire.

For this appointment, the sopranos Marina Rego, Ana Belén Faus, Ana Rivero and Laura Miralles, the mezzo-sopranos Águeda Velázquez and Naara Prada, the tenor Alfredo Fauró and the baritones Francisco Granizo, Javier Brandariz and Máximo Caballero will lend their voice.
