Argentine gastronomy will be present in the 24th edition of ‘Madrid Fusion’

For three days, Argentine gastronomy will shine in the 24th edition of Madrid Fusion Foods, which will be held from 26 to 28 January at IFEMA Madrid, where national cuisine will participate with several of its main references.

PromArgentina, the Argentine Agency for the Promotion of Investments and International Trade, will have a pavilion of 100 m2, together with Marca País Argentina, the Embassy of Argentina in Spain and the Secretariat of Culture of the Nation.

Diego Sucalesca, executive president of PromArgentina, said that “it is a fundamental milestone for the Agency to accompany Argentine gastronomy as an asset relevant to the global positioning of the country, by articulating cultural identity, productive quality and commercial projection”. He added that “the promotion of Argentine gastronomy implies, in a direct way, the promotion of export products that support it”.

Wenceslao Bunge, Ambassador of the Argentine Republic, said that “from the Embassy, we promote Argentina’s participation in Madrid Fusión in order to position our country as a relevant gastronomic power and open to world trade”.

For his part, Leonardo Cifelli, Secretary of Culture of the Nation, indicated that “Argentine gastronomy is much more than an export product: it is a concrete expression of our cultural identity, knowledge and traditions which are consolidated in each region of the country. From the National Government we understand that Argentine cuisine not only places products in the world, but also affirms culture, creativity and a contemporary vision based on work, talent and added value”, said Cifelli.

PromArgentina’s participation in Madrid Fusión is a foundational milestone: it is the first time that the Agency integrates the most relevant international gastronomy fair at a global level and the first involvement in this sector in more than 30 years.

This event will also be part of the activities that Marca País Argentina will carry out in the cities of Madrid and Barcelona, a series of gastronomic and cultural promotion actions as part of the “Argentine Week in Spain”, which will take place from 26 to 31 January.

For these actions, Marca País Argentina launched the official site www.argentinaweek.ar, in which the various commercial proposals of the Argentina Week are disseminated. The initiative was joined by various companies with promotions and points of sale -among physical stores, e-commerce and restaurants- that will accompany and enhance this celebration of Argentine identity and flavor in Spain.

Since 2003, Madrid Fusion is considered the most influential global forum of haute cuisine because it brings together iconic chefs in a stage of ideas, technique and avant-garde, with lectures, live shows, tastings and competitions that mark the gastronomic agenda worldwide. It is also the great window of innovation and emerging talent, where trends are born and new references are revealed.

During the three days of the fair, the Argentine space will have a program that will include culinary demonstrations, tastings, product presentations and networking actions oriented to professional exchange.

Argentina will be represented at Madrid Fusión by the chef from Bahia, Dante Liporace, who worked in restaurants in Italy and Spain until 2007 when he joined the legendary El Bulli, led by Ferran Adrià, famous for revolutionizing the world gastronomy with its avant-garde cuisine and innovative techniques. Liporace will give a lecture on the main stage of the show about the origins of Argentine gastronomy to the present day.
